Warner Earns First Career NEISDA Weekly Honor
WESTON, Mass. – Freshman diver Ella Warner (Putney, Vt.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team has been voted as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Women's Diver of the Week for the first week of the 2021-22 season, announced this week by the association.
Warner turned some heads in her collegiate debut in a double dual meet against Regis College and the University of New England Saturday, capturing a win in the one-meter diving with a 162.4 overall score, just ahead of her teammate and senior diving captain, Brielle Bergeron (Easthampton, Mass.). She was also runner-up in the second round of one meter diving at 219.45 points, just shy of the win at 233.40.
This is the first-ever weekly nod for Warner, who is originally from Putney, Vt., and attended Miss Porter's School, before hitting the pool for the Blue Jays.
Founded in 1920, the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) is a coach-run association made up member institutions in New England. NEISDA annually sponsors and administers a championship for those qualifying swimmers and divers in February.
