Swimming & Diving Announces 2023-24 Schedule
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's and women's swimming & diving teams and second-year head coach Alexandra Albert have officially announced the schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Highlighting the Blue Jays' 11-meet slate this season are four home meets which will take place inside Bruyette Natatorium on the campus of USJ.
The swimming & diving teams begin the 2023-24 docket on Saturday, October 7, with a double-dual meet hosted by Regis College with the University of New England. The Blue Jays will dive into the 2023-24 season at the Regis Pool against the Pride and Nor'easters at a time yet to be determined.
After the opening meet of the season, USJ returns to West Hartford for its first home event of the 2023-24 campaign, the annual Blue Jay Pentathlon, on Friday, October 20 at 5:00 p.m. inside the Bruyette Natatorium. The Blue Jays will welcome Eastern Connecticut, Albertus Magnus, Elms, Western New England and Smith on campus that evening, where student-athletes will swim in five 100-yard events competing for the lowest combined individual time.
Following the Blue Jay Pentathlon, the teams then travel to the Roger Williams University (RWU) Invite the following weekend, Saturday, October 28, inside the RWU Aquatics Center in Bristol, R.I.
The Blue Jays then return to West Hartford for their first dual meet on Saturday, October 29, hosting Husson. The first event is expected to get underway between USJ and Husson at 11:00 a.m.
USJ then quickly heads back on the road, heading to Standish, Maine for the battle of the Saint Joseph's, travelling to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Saint Joseph's College of Maine for a dual meet on Friday, November 3. Start time between the Monks and Blue Jays is set for 4:00 p.m. inside the Harold Alfond Center. Following the trip north, USJ returns to the Bruyette Natatorium for a dual meet against GNAC opponent Norwich University on Friday, November 17, starting at 4:00 p.m. The Blue Jays round out the calendar year at the annual Connecticut Cup hosted by Wesleyan on Friday, December 1 through Saturday, December 2.
As the calendar flips into 2024, USJ opens the new year with a trip to nearby Trinity College in Hartford for a double-dual meet against the Bantams and Clark on Saturday, January 13. USJ remains on the road, heading east to Danbury, Conn. for a dual meet against intrastate foes Western Connecticut on Friday, January 19.
The final stretch before the GNAC Championships features a dual meet on Saturday, January 20 at Gordon, followed by a return to West Hartford on Friday, January 26 for a meet against intrastate foes Eastern Connecticut to conclude the regular season. The meet against the Warriors will serve as Senior Day for the Blue Jays.
The 2024 GNAC Championships take place over three days from Friday, February 2 to Sunday, February 4 and will once again take place at the Wellesley Sports Center in Wellesley, Mass., where every conference school will merge to race for the title. The men's swimming & diving team is coming off a historic second place finish out of five teams at the 2023 GNAC Championships, while the women placed fourth out of eight teams in 2023.
