WEST HARTFORD, Conn.—The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Semifinal game between the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team, and the Anna Maria College (AMC) AMCATS was postponed Thursday due to a crash on I-84.
The Connecticut State Police is still investigating a serious motor vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer. The accident happened about a half mile before exit 72 in the town of Union, closing all traffic starting at exit 73, which led to miles worth of delays on the westbound side. The Anna Maria College men's basketball team bus was stuck in that traffic for hours, and ultimately the decision was made by both schools to postpone the game at around 7:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The Blue Jays will now host the AMCATS at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28 inside the O'Connell Center, for the right to play in the GNAC Championship. The Blue Jays would host the title game with a win Friday night.
All tickets from Thursday's postponement will be honored at Friday night's game. Those who cannot attend can contact the USJ Athletic Office at 860-231-5296.
