Record Number Earn 2020-21 Academic All-Conference Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) placed a record-high 80 student-athletes on the 2020-21 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the league's front office on Monday afternoon.
In order to be eligible for the conference's academic all-conference squad, a student-athlete must obtain a 3.25 cumulative GPA and have reached second-year academic status. Across the entire GNAC, a new record total of 1,266 student-athletes were named to the 2020-21 GNAC Academic All-Conference Team, an increase of 118 from the 2019-20 Academic All-Conference Team. It marks the fourth straight year more than 1,000 GNAC student-athletes have garnered selection.
Regis College paced the conference's selections with 124, edging Saint Joseph's College of Maine who registered 120. Lasell University was third with 119, ahead of Emmanuel College (100) and Simmons University (97) to round out the top-five institutions. Factoring in multi-sport student-athletes, the USJ women's soccer team and softball team each boasted 14 student-athletes on the 2020-21 GNAC Academic All-Conference Team to lead the Blue Jays.
