HOW IT HAPPENED

The No. 2 doubles pairing of senior Allie Long (East Hartford, Conn.) and junior Jillian Milo (Southington, Conn.) wasted little time, storming out to a commanding 6-1 victory over Deida and Pearlman to give USJ the early edge.
-
At No. 3 doubles, junior Nina Gardella (Lebanon, Conn.) and senior Bernae Webb (Bridgeport, Conn.) stayed composed in key moments, pulling away late for a 6-3 win against Lamb and Marks. With the win, the Blue Jays clinched the doubles point and took a 1-0 lead in the match.
-
On the top court, sophomore Maddie Rossetti (Hamden, Conn.) and senior Lili Garcia (Wethersfield, Conn.) battled through a tight tiebreak, edging Carr and Gallagher, 7-6 (7-3), to complete the doubles sweep.
-
Rossetti carried that momentum into singles, dictating play from the baseline at No. 1 in a decisive 6-0, 6-1 victory over Carr, doubling the Blue Jays' lead to 2-0.
-
Sophomore Daynah Echevarria (East Haven, Conn.) quickly made it 3-0 with an efficient 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 5 singles over Marks.
-
Garcia then clinched the overall match at No. 2 singles, staying on the offensive in a 6-1, 6-2 win over Gallagher to give USJ an insurmountable 4-0 advantage.
-
Sophomore Carolina Mancini (Manchester, Conn.) added to the tally at No. 4 singles, powering past Deida in a 6-1, 6-2 victory that stretched the lead to 5-0.
-
Freshman Anna Beauchene (Bristol, Conn.) kept the energy high, turning in a steady 6-2, 6-2 performance at No. 6 singles against Lamb to push the margin to 6-0.
-
Senior Gia Alvarez (Meriden, Conn.) capped the afternoon in style at No. 3 singles. After grinding out a tight 7-5 opening set against Pearlman, Alvarez found her rhythm and closed out a 7-5, 6-1 victory, sealing the 7-0 sweep for the Blue Jays.
