WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to WestConn on Monday evening at the USJ Soccer Field. The Blue Jays move to 2-4-0 on the season, while the Wolves improve to 3-3-1.
WestConn struck first in the 17th minute when Abby Corcoran scored off a pass from Hannah Blacher. The Blue Jays answered in the 27th minute as senior midfielder Alana Picard (Windsor Locks, Conn.) netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season, assisted by senior forward Christina Quitoni (Patchogue, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Julia Loughman (Wolcott, Conn.), to even the match at 1-1.
WestConn pulled away in the second half with three unanswered goals. Madelyn Dwyer regained the lead in the 69th minute, before Morgan Fontaine and Shannon Anderson added insurance goals in the 88th and 90th minutes to secure the win.
USJ recorded six shots, including two on goal, while WestConn totaled 25 shots with 15 on target. Blue Jay goalkeepers Madison Corcoran (Bristol, Conn.) and Erika Horne (Killingly, Conn.) each made five saves in the loss.

The Blue Jays return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they travel to face Colby-Sawyer College. Kickoff at Kelsey Soccer Field in New London, N.H., is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
