Three From Men's Tennis Named ITA Scholar-Athletes
TEMPE Ariz. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's tennis team had three student-athletes recognized by the International Tennis Association (ITA), as the trio was named Division III Men's ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2024-25 academic year, it was announced by the organization on Wednesday, July 23. Senior Jonathan Huot (South Windsor, Conn.) and juniors Karol Romer (Warsaw, Poland) and Mateus Silvestre (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) earned the designation for the Blue Jays. It marked three consecutive years that Huot has garnered the honor, and the second consecutive year that Silvestre earned the distinction.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, Hour, Romer and Silvestre had to meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
Overall, 1,115 Division III men's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 135 men's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
