Wyse Tabbed NEISDA Men's Swimmer Of The Week
WESTON, Mass. – Senior captain Jacob Wyse (Broad Brook, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team was selected as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Men's Swimmer of the Week for week three of the 2021-2022 season, announced Wednesday afternoon by the association. It marks the second time in the first three weeks of the season that USJ has earned NEISDA Men's Swimmer of the Week honors after fellow senior captain Brendan Lynch (Watertown, Conn.) earned the nod in week one.
Wyse defended his title and won the Blue Jay Pentathlon for the third consecutive season that USJ has hosted the event en route to picking up NEISDA Men's Swimmer of the Week honors as well as GNAC Athlete of the Week honors, which was announced by the conference on Monday. This past Friday night, Wyse posted the lowest combined time (5:03.78) amongst all of the competitors who contested in the five 100-yard events inside the Bruyette Natatorium to earn the victory. In route to the first-place finish, he recorded four first-place swims out of the five events, winning the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.77), 100 Backstroke (1:00.38), 100 Freestyle (53.89), and 100 IM (1:02.99).
Wyse is one of three team captains this season for men's swimming & diving. He is a biology major and four-year member of the team. As such, he is one of the original members of the team during its first season of competition in 2018-19.
Founded in 1920, the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association is a coach-run association made up of member institutions in New England. NEISDA annually sponsors and administers a championship for those qualifying swimmers and divers in February.
