- USJ continued to rally late in the period, with senior attack Nick Pestrichello (Newington, Conn.) tying the game at two before Oakes struck again off another assist from Pelletier with 1:23 remaining to give the Blue Jays their first lead, 3-2.
- Rivier responded with two goals in the final 27 seconds of the quarter to reclaim a 4-3 edge heading into the second.
