Shores, Blue Jays Win Mitchell Invitational
WATERFORD, Conn. – Sophomore Faith Shores (West Simsbury, Conn.) won the Mitchell Invitational, pacing the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's cross country team to a first-place team finish at Stenger Farm Park in Waterford, Conn., this afternoon. The Blue Jays tallied 30 points on the day, finishing ahead of conference foes Mitchell and Dean.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Shores won the race after crossing the line with a 5k time of 20:29.5, which was four minutes faster than the second place finisher
- Senior Jaelynn Solorzano (Wallingford, Conn.) was the next Blue Jays finisher, placing fourth after recording a time of 27:04.1
- Freshman Gjamory'a McTier (Hartford, Conn.) placed sixth for USJ, posting a time of 27:29.6
- Freshman Taigan Parent (Bristol, Conn.) followed closely behind, recording a time of 27:34.7 to finish in seventh
- Freshman Analise Santiago (Waterbury, Conn.) rounded out the USJ finishers, recording a 12th place finish after posting a time of 31:32.8
UP NEXT
The women's cross country returns to action next on Saturday, September 30, heading to Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., for the Founding Tree Invitational. The women's 6k is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
