Ayala Rodriguez Named GNAC Libero of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – After a stellar week, senior libero Fernanda Ayala Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's volleyball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Libero of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office on Monday afternoon in its fourth weekly report of the 2024 season. The honor marked the first time that a USJ women's volleyball student-athlete earned a conference weekly award since Tiffany Mapusaga '15 (Waianae, Haw.) earned Player of the Week honors on September 21, 2015. The award also marked the first time that Ayala Rodriguez received a conference weekly accolade in her career.
Ayala Rodriguez paced the Blue Jays defensively, tallying 66 digs and 41 service receptions with 0 reception errors across two matches this past week. The senior started by tallying 27 digs on the road at Norwich Friday night, guiding the Blue Jays to their first win of the season. Ayala Rodriguez then concluded her impressive week with a career-high 39 digs at home against Sarah Lawrence on Saturday.

The Blue Jays return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play by traveling to Elms College on Wednesday, September 25. Opening serve against the Blazers inside Picknelly Arena in Chicopee, Mass., is set for 6:00 p.m.
