Seven Blue Jays Earn ITA Scholar-Athlete Honors; Women's Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team
TEMPE, Ariz. - Seniors Gia Alvarez (Meriden, Conn.), Lili Garcia (Wethersfield, Conn.), Allie Long (East Hartford, Conn.) and Bernae Webb (Bridgeport, Conn.); sophomores Carolina Mancini (Manchester, Conn.) and Maddie Rossetti (Hamden, Conn.); and freshman Anna Beauchene (Oakdale, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's tennis team were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as Division III ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2025-26 academic year, the organization announced Wednesday.
In addition, the Blue Jays earned ITA All-Academic Team honors for the first time in program history. The Scholar-Athlete recognition marks the first career ITA academic honor for all seven Blue Jays.
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must:
- Maintain a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must:
- Achieve a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or higher (on a 4.00 scale).
- Include only student-athletes listed on the institutional eligibility form.
- Factor all varsity letter winners into the team's cumulative GPA for the current academic year.
Overall, 1,309 Division III women's tennis student-athletes earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, while 177 Division III women's tennis programs received ITA All-Academic Team honors.
