Women's Tennis Lands Eight on CNE Fall Academic All-Conference Team

BEVERLY, Mass. – Seniors Allie Long (East Hartford, Conn.), Bernae Webb (Bridgeport, Conn.), Gia Alvarez (Meriden, Conn.) and Lili Garcia (Wethersfield, Conn.), juniors Jillian Milo (Southington, Conn.) and Nina Gardella (Lebanon, Conn.) and sophomores Carolina Mancini (Manchester, Conn.) and Maddie Rossetti (Hamden, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's tennis team earned Conference of New England (CNE) Fall Academic All-Conference Team recognition, the conference front office announced Tuesday.

In January and June each academic year, the Conference recognizes an Academic All-Conference Team. Each member institution is responsible for determining its qualified student-athletes. Criteria for recognition is: at least sophomore status athletically and academically with one academic year in residence at their current institution; hold a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale; active member of a roster for a Conference-sponsored sport.

The January recognition covers men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's tennis, women's volleyball, field hockey, men's and women's golf, and football. The June recognition includes men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, baseball, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's tennis and men's and women's track and field student-athletes.

In all, 927 student-athletes earned honors across 16 institutions. Leading the pack with 153 student-athletes was Endicott College, with the University of New England taking second with 98 student-athletes. Western New England took third, putting up 84 student-athletes to receive honors. The top two sports receiving honors were Football (181) and Men's Soccer (155), with Women's Soccer (153) a close third.

Originally founded in 1984 as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), and reconstituted as the Conference of New England (CNE) in 2024, the CNE is an NCAA Division III athletic conference composed of 11 full member and five associate member institutions throughout the New England region. Its membership aims to provide student-athletes with a positive experience in their pursuit of excellence through high academic standards, quality competition and a meaningful student life. The Conference administers championships in 21 intercollegiate sports.
