Women's Tennis Falls to Endicott During Senior Day on Saturday

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's tennis team saw their 2025 fall season come to a close Saturday afternoon, dropping a Conference of New England (CNE) match to Endicott College (Endicott), 7-0, at the Elizabeth Ferry Speer Tennis Complex in West Hartford, Conn. The match also served as senior day for the Blue Jays, as the USJ Department of Athletics honored seniors Lili Garcia (Wethersfield, Conn.), Allie Long (East Hartford, Conn.), Gia Alvarez (Meriden, Conn.) and Bernae Webb (Bridgeport, Conn.) prior to opening serve. With the result, the Blue Jays concluded the year at 6-9 overall and 4-6 in the CNE, while Endicott improved to 7-6 overall and 6-4 in the CNE.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Jillian Milo (Southington, Conn.) and Long started the match at No. 2 doubles, falling 6-0, to give Endicott the early advantage.

  • The Gulls secured the lone doubles point at No. 3 doubles, as Webb and junior Nina Gardella (Lebanon, Conn.) were bested, 6-1, establishing a 1-0 Endicott lead.

  • Sophomore Maddie Rossetti (Hamden, Conn.) and Garcia answered back at No. 1 doubles though, picking up a 6-4 win, sending USJ into singles play with momentum.

  • Milo featured at No. 6 singles, falling in straight-sets, 0-6, 0-6, as Endicott extended the gap to 2-0.

  • Garcia battled at No. 2 singles, but dropped a 2-6, 1-6, decision as the Gulls took a 3-0 edge.

  • The visitors secured the match win at No. 4 singles as sophomore Carolina Mancini (Manchester, Conn.) dropped a 1-6, 0-6, result.

  • Alvarez featured at No. 3 singles, but was bested in straight-sets, 1-6, 2-6, as the Gulls extended the deficit to 5-0.

  • Long fought hard at No. 5 singles, but succumbed to a 2-6, 4-6, result, establishing a 6-0 Endicott lead.

  • Rossetti bounced back after falling in the opening set at No. 1 singles, but ultimately fell, 0-6, 6-1, 4-6, as the GUlls rounded out the sweep, 7-0.
