Rossetti Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman Maddie Rossetti (Hamden, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's tennis team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office on Tuesday afternoon in its first weekly report of the 2024 season. It marks the first career GNAC weekly honor for Rossetti, and the first for the USJ women's tennis team this season. The award also marks the first time that a Blue Jays received a weekly accolade from the GNAC since Emily Kerr '23 (Portland, Conn.) earned Player of the Week honors on September 12, 2022.

Rossetti started her collegiate career in convincing fashion this past Saturday at home against Bridgewater State University, winning both matches she played in. She started the match with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles alongside classmate Shelly Sirisavath (East Hartford, Conn.). Rossetti rounded out her day with a win at No. 2 singles, securing a 6-3, 6-4 straight set victory.
