Garcia Named to Women's Tennis All-GNAC First Team

WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore Liliana Garcia (Wethersfield, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's tennis team was named an All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) First Team Singles member for the 2023 season, it was announced on Tuesday by the league's front office. Additionally, senior captain Kathleen Gilland (Wethersfield, Conn.) was tabbed to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team, as the conference unveiled its year-end GNAC Major Awards and All-Conference Teams, which are voted on by the league's five head coaches.

Garcia was a staple in the lineup for USJ, primarily playing at the No. 2 singles position and on the No. 1 doubles team, partnering with Gilland. Garcia finished the season with a 4-6 record overall in singles play, including a 3-1 mark in GNAC play to receive All-GNAC First Team honors. In doubles action, Garcia finished with a record of 2-8 overall and 2-2 in GNAC play.

The accolade marks the second career All-GNAC selection for Garcia, after receiving All-Rookie Team accolades in 2022.
