Women's Swimming & Diving Drops Dual Meet to Clark on Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team dropped a dual meet Clark University (MA), 132-116, Saturday afternoon inside the Kneller Athletic Center Pool in Worcester, Mass.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of junior Izzy Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.), senior Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.), sophomore Ella MacKenzie (Southington, Conn.), and junior Madison Johnson (Southington, Conn.) finished in second place, combining for a time of 2:04.07.
  • 1000 Yard Free –  Freshman Sara Omar (Simsbury, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay competing in the event, posting a time of 11:40.66.
  • 200 Yard Free – Sophomore Charlotte Poltronieri (Enfield, Conn.) finished in second place with a time of 2:28.36.
  • 50 Yard Free -  Poltronieri recorded a second place finish with a time of 29.90 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Free - Sophomore Peyton Tyler (Killingworth, Conn.) paced the Blue Jays, finishing in third with a time of 1:08.35.
  • 200 Yard Back - Omar recorded a first place finish for USJ, posting a time of 2:26.06.
  • 200 Yard Breaststroke - Violette finished in fourth place, tallying a time of 3:04.15.
  • 100 Yard Back - MacKenzie finished in second place, posting a time of 1:24.31.
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke - Violette finished in third, touching the wall in 1:26.98.
  • 200 Yard Butterfly - Sophomore Alina Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) placed second, recording a time of 2:41.33.
  • 1 Meter Diving - USJ secured the top three spots with junior Kira Geiger (Watertown, Conn.) finishing in first with 158.65 points, senior Lili Garcia (Wethersfield, Conn.) in second with a score of 151.50, and junior Sophia Simoes (Watertown, Conn.) in third with a total score of 147.20. 
  • 3 Meter Diving - Geiger finished in first with a score of 155.35 while Simoes followed closely behind her in second with a total score of 141.75.
  • 200 Yard IM - Omar won the event and broke the school freshman record for the event, posting an impressive time of 2:25.89.
  • 500 Yard Free – Poltronieri finished in third after recording a time of 6:32.65.
  • 100 Yard Butterfly - Niemczyk recorded a second place finish with a time of 1:11.62.
  • 200 Free Relay - The team of Garcia, sophomore Delaney Towey (West Hartford, Conn.), Niemczyk, and Tyler finshed in third after combining for a time of 2:06.41.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays return home to the Bruyette Natatorium for Senior Day on Saturday, Jan. 17, hosting Eastern Connecticut State University in a dual meet, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
