Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to ECSU Saturday Afternoon

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team dropped its regular-season finale to intrastate foe Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU), 208-48, Saturday afternoon inside the ECSU Sports Center in Willimantic, Conn.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of freshman Charlotte Poltronieri (Enfield, Conn.), senior Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.), freshman Alina Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) and Peyton Tyler (Killingworth, Conn.) finished in third place after combining for a time of 2:12.58.
  • 1000 Yard Free –  Senior Emily Beyer (Prospect, Conn.) paced the team in the event, placing fourth with a time of 13:33.95.
  • 200 Yard Free – Mamica finished in third place, recording a time of 2:17.41.
  • 50 Yard Back - Freshman Ella Mackenzie (Southington, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay in the event, placing fourth with a time of 41.15 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Breaststroke – Sophomore Isabella Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) paced USJ in the event, finishing in fourth place with a time of 42.59 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Fly - Niemczyk finished in third place, posting a time of 1:10.65.
  • 50 Yard Free - Tyler finished in third place, tallying a time of 29.87 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Free - Tyler paced the team again, finishing in fourth with a time of 1:05.41.
  • 100 Yard Back - Sophomore Karina Deros (Watertown, Conn.) paced USJ with a third place finish after notching a time of 1:26.17.
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke -  Castrillo finished in fourth place, touching the wall in a time of 1:31.53.
  • 500 Yard Free – Mamica paced the team with a second-place finish, tallying a time of 6:05.24.
  • 50 Yard Fly - Niemczyk finished in fourth place, touching the wall in 32.09 seconds.
  • 100 Yard IM – Deros led the team with a fourth-place finish, tallying a time of 1:30.66.
  • 200 Free Relay - The team of Mamica, Poltronieri, Tyler and Niemczyk finished in second after combining for a time of 1:58.96.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays now gear up for the GNAC Championships, which are set to begin on Friday, February 7, inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass.
