Women's Swimming & Diving Competes Against Trinity and Clark
HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming & diving split a double dual meet against neighboring foes Trinity College (Trinity) and Clark University (Clark) inside the Trinity Natatorium in Hartford, Conn, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays defeated the Cougars, 133-120, but fell to the host Bantams, 247-44.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of junior Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.), sophomore Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and freshmen Kaia Michaud (Hamden, Conn.) and Alexia Grech (Burlington, Conn.) finished in fifth place after combingin for a time of 2:08.85.
- 1000 Yard Free – Senior Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.) topped the timing sheet for USJ, finishing in third with a time of 13:49.75.
- 200 Yard Free – Mamica was the lone Blue Jay in the event, posting a time of 2:13.37 to finish in fifth.
- 50 Yard Back – Violette lead USJ, finishing in sixth in a time of 33.89 seconds.
- 50 Yard Breaststroke – Freshman Isabella Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) paced the Blue Jays, finishing in fifth after touching the wall in 40.96 seconds.
- 100 Yard Fly – Freshman Jodie Hammond (Newington, Conn.) was the sole Blue Jay in the event, finishing in sixth with a time of 1:31.75.
- 50 Yard Free – Michaud had an outstanding performance, finishing in third with a time of 27.15 seconds.
- 1 Meter Diving – Sophomore Chandler Douglas (North Haven, Conn.) paced USJ, finishing in seventh with a score of 140.05 points.
- 100 Yard Free – Grech topped the timing chart for USJ, finishing in eight with a time of 1:03.59.
- 100 Yard Breaststroke – Castrillo was the lone Blue Jay, finishing in fifth with a time of 1:31.79.
- 500 Yard Free – Marcille lead USJ with a fifth-place finish, touching the wall in a time of 6:55.32.
- 50 Yard Fly – Mamica was the highest placed finisher for USJ, coming in fourth in a time of 29.27 seconds.
- 3 Meter Diving – Senior Jaelynn Solorzano (Wallingford, Conn.) finished in sixth place with a score of 93.30 points.
- 100 Yard IM – Violette led the team with a sixth-place finish, posting a time of 1:14.08.
- 400 Yard Free Relay – The team of Mamica, Grech, Violette, and Michaud finished in fourth place, combining for a time of 4:14.92.
UP NEXT
The Blue Jays remain in the Nutmeg State, heading to Western Connecticut State University on Friday, January 19 for a dual meet. The meet against the Wolves inside the William A. O'Neill Athletic & Convocation Center in Danbury, Conn., is set to start at 5:00 p.m.
