Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Husson Sunday Morning

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming & diving team dropped a dual-meet against Husson University, 162-92, Sunday morning inside the Bruyette Natatorium in West Hartford, Conn.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of junior Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.), sophomore Angelina Bernardi (Middlebury, Conn.) and freshmen Kaia Michaud (Hamden, Conn.) and Alexia Grech (Burlington, Conn.) finished in second-place, combining for a time of 2:12.65.
  • 1000 Yard Free – Junior Emily Beyer (Prospect, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay in the event, recording a second-place finish after posting a time of 14:11.67.
  • 200 Yard Free – Mamica won the event for USJ, touching the wall in a time of 2:17.63, nearly 11 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
  • 50 Yard Breaststroke – Senior Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.) took home the silver, finishing in a time of 40.30 seconds. Freshman Isabella Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) trailed closely behind in third, posting a time of 41.37 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Fly – Freshman Jodie Hammond (Newington, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in third place with a time of 1:31.76.
  • 50 Yard Free – Michaud paced USJ in the event, recording a second-place finish after touching the wall in a time of 28.21 seconds. Grech finished closely behind in third, posting a time of 28.44 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Free – Grech would pace USJ in the event, finishing in second with a time of 1:04.77. Michaud followed behind in third, posting a time of 1:05.13.
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke– Sophomore Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.) paced USJ, finishing in seconds with a time of 1:25.87.
  • 500 Yard Free – Mamica lead the way for the Blue Jays, finishing in second after posting a time of 6:12.42.
  • 50 Yard Fly – Marcille won the event, posting a time of 34.18 seconds. Bernardi followed behind in second, posting a time of 34.86 seconds, while Hammond rounded out the podium sweep, finishing in third with a time of 39.01 seconds.
  • 200 Yard IM – Violette was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in second-place after touching the wall in a time of 2:39.97.
  • 400 Yard Free Relay – The team of Mamica, Violette, Michaud and Grech took home the gold, combining for a time of 4:15.70.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays head back on the road, heading to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday, November 3 for a dual-meet. The event against the Monks inside the Harold Alfond Center in Standish, Maine is set to begin at 4:00 p.m.
