Women's Swimming & Diving Concludes Regular Season at ECSU Friday Night

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team rounded out the 2022-23 regular season, falling on the road, 198-54, against intrastate foe Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU), in a dual meet this evening inside the Sports Center in Willimantic, Conn.

TOP PERFORMANCES 

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of senior  Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.),sophomores Gabriela Targonska (Newington, Conn.) and Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and senior Morgan Beebe (Ellington, Conn.) finished in second place, posting a time of 2:10.35. 
  • 1000 Yard Free – Junior Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.) paced USJ in the event, finishing third with a time of 13:56.10 
  • 200 Yard Free – Mamica took home a third-place finish, recording a time of 2:15.14 
  • 50 Yard Backstroke – Targonska placed the highest for USJ in the event, hitting the wall in a time of 34.53 to finish in second. Violette followed closely behind in third, recording a time of 34.53
  • 100 Yard Butterfly– Beebe was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in third after recording a time of 1:17.38 
  • 50 Yard Free – Junior Jaelynn Solorzano (Wallingford, Conn.) topped the timing sheet for USJ, recording a time of 37.21 to finish fourth
  • 100 Yard Free– Marcille took home a fourth-place finish after posting a time of 1:10.20 
  • 100 Yard Backstroke – Violette, who was the sole USJ participant, finished in second place after hitting the wall in a time of 1:15.19
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke – Freshman Angelina Bernardi (Middlebury, Conn.) recorded a fourth-place finish after posting a time of 1:31.92 
  • 500 Yard Free – Mamica took home the gold in the event, posting a time of 6:05.94, which was nearly seven seconds faster than the second-place finisher
  • 50 Yard Butterfly – Beebe finished in fourth place after recording a time of 32.92
  • 100 Yard IM – Targonska paced the Blue Jays in the event, finishing third with a time of 1:11.00
  • 200 Yard Free Relay – The team of Targonska, Bernardi, Violette and Mamica finished in third after combining for a time of 1:57.73  

UP NEXT
The Blue Jays begin postseason competition with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships. Held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass., the three-day event is set to begin on Friday, February 3.
