Mamica Wins Blue Jay Pentathlon Friday

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team made their 2022-23 Bruyette Natatorium debut on Friday night, competing in the Blue Jay Pentathlon. Sophomore Amy Mamica won the pentathlon for USJ, combing for a time of 3:24.53. 

 
TOP PERFORMANCES 

  • The Blue Jays, alongside the Falcons and Blazers, took part in an individual-based set of events, where the best combined time over five events would be declared the winner. 

  • Mamica won two out of the five events and finished second on two occasions during the night. 

  • Sophomore Gabriela Targonska (Newington, Conn.) earned the silver, combing for a time of 3:32.04. 

  • Freshman Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.) finished in third place, posting a time of 3:35.03. 

  • Junior Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.) and freshman Angelina Bernardi (Middlebury, Conn.) rounded out the top-five, earning fourth and fifth place honors respectively. Marcille recorded a time of 3:45.27 while Bernardi trailed narrowly behind, notching a time of 3:45.85. 

UP NEXT 

The Blue Jays return to the pool next Saturday, October 29 for a dual meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Norwich in Northfield, Vt. The meet against the Cadets is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
