Women's Swim & Dive Lands Seven On NEISDA All-Academic Team
READING, Mass. — Seven members of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming & diving team were named to the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Fall 2021 All-Academic Team, announced by the association this past Friday afternoon. 128 student-athletes (96 women, 32 men) from 11 women's teams and eight men's teams across the region were recognized on this year's NEISDA Fall All-Academic Team.
In order for a swimmer or diver to make the NEISDA All-Academic Team, student-athletes needed to post a fall semester GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Seven of the 13 members of the women's swimming and diving program accomplished the feat. Two seniors, one sophomore, and four freshman earned the honor for the Blue Jays: freshman Emily Beyer (Prospect, Conn.), freshman Ailey Driscoll (Bristol, Conn.), freshman Gabriela Targonska (Newington, Conn.), freshman Ella Warner (Putney, Vt.), sophomore Mia Villamizar (Glastonbury, Conn.), senior captain Brielle Bergeron (Easthampton, Mass.), and senior captain Shelby Cios (Rocky Hill, Conn.).
Founded in 1920, NEISDA is a coach-run association made up member institutions in New England. NEISDA annually sponsors and administers a championship for those qualifying swimmers and divers in February for New England teams in Division I, II, III, and collegiate club teams.
