Gulino Nets Hat-Trick to Power Women's Soccer in 4-0 Win Over Mitchell Tuesday
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior defender Gabby Gulino (Wethersfield, Conn.) netted a hat-trick to power the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team past intrastate foes Mitchell College (Mitchell), 4-0, during Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Tuesday night at the USJ Soccer Field in West Hartford, Conn. With the result, the Blue Jays moved to 6-9-2 overall and 6-5-2 in the GNAC, while the Mariners dropped to 0-12-1 on the year and 0-12-1 in the conference.
KEY MOMENTS
- Gulino wasted little time finding the back of the net, receiving a pass from senior forward Jelly Frigo (West Hartford, Conn) before rifling a shot past the Mitchell goalkeeper, establishing a 1-0 lead at the 7:39 mark.
- Frigo would find Gulino again six minutes later, as Gulino netted her second strike of the game, increasing the gap to 2-0 at the 13:14 mark.
- The Blue Jays continued to dominate the openign half as senior forward Kelsi Ursini (Groton, Conn.) and junior forward Christina Quitoni (Patchogue, N.Y.) combined for a passing combination before picking out a pass to senior midfielder Ava Kriak (Vernon, Conn.) who slotted the ball home to give USJ a 3-0 edge with seven minutes left in the half.

- Gulino rounded out her hat-trick at the 53:42 mark, finding the back of the net after a pass from Kriak, to increase the advantage to 4-0.
- The Blue Jays continued to domiante the remainder of the game, as they secured the victory, 4-0.

- Gulino recorded her first career hat-trick, netting her third, fourth, and fifth goals of the season.
- Kriak scored her second goal and dished out her second assist.
- Quitoni notched her fourth assist, while Ursini dished out her fifth.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Corcoran (Bristol, Conn.) got the start in goal, recording one save across 61:03 minutes of action.
- Junior Allison Drake (Plymouth, Conn.) played the remaining 28:57 in net and did not face a shot on target.
