Women's Soccer Heads to JWU for GNAC Quarterfinals Saturday
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — For the 22nd consecutive year, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team is heading for the postseason. The eighth-seeded Blue Jays are set to face No. 1 seed Johnson & Wales University (JWU) in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinals on Saturday, October 29th in Providence, R.I. Kickoff between the Blue Jays and Wildcats is set for 6:00 p.m. from the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex.

USJ QUICK HITS
- The Blue Jays earned the eighth seed in the GNAC postseason tournament after a last-minute Elizabeth Garlock (Meriden, Conn.) goal lifted them to a 2-1 victory over Elms on Wednesday.
- USJ is led by senior Maxine Muscatello (Berlin, Conn.). The forward ranks third in the GNAC in goals (13) and total points (31).
- Sophomore midfielder Jenna Zup (Berlin, Conn.) is the primary playmaker, dishing out a team-high nine assists, which are tied for third in the conference.
- Junior midfielder Zoe Walk (Newington, Conn.) has been a force in the midfield, ranking second on the team in goals (5), including two game-winners.
- Freshman Chandler Douglas has started in goal for all 16 of USJ's games. She paces the goalkeeping core with 83 saves, a .697 save percentage, and one clean sheet.
SCOUTING JWU
- JWU earned the top seed after posting an undefeated 13-0 record in conference play.
- The Wildcats are ranked No. 5 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Region I poll.
- JWU is paced by the GNAC's top scorer Jordan Restivo. Restivo leads the league in goals (19), assists (18), and points (56).
- Hayley Viebrock is second on the team with eight goals, while Lauren Moriarity is second in assists, dishing out seven on the year.
- Carly McCrumb and Shannon Stockero have split time in net for the Wildcats this season, appearing in 15 and 8 games respectively.
- Stockero leads the goalkeeping core, posting a 7-0-0 record with a .875 save percentage and a 0.32 goals-against average.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Saturday marks the 27th meeting all-time between the Blue Jays and Wildcats.
- JWU holds a slight edge in the all-time series 13-9-4. In postseason play, JWU has a slim 2-1 edge.
- Earlier this season, the Wildcats defeated the Blue Jays, 3-0, in Providence.

With a victory, the Blue Jays would advance to the GNAC Semifinals, taking on the winner of the No. 4 Saint Joseph's College of Maine versus No. 5 Regis matchup. The Semifinals are set to take place on Wednesday, November 2.
