WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman Kailey Krusewski (Newington, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon in its fourth weekly report of the 2026 season. The honor marks Krusewski's first career GNAC Rookie of the Week award and is the second weekly conference recognition for the USJ women's lacrosse team this season.
Krusewski powered the Blue Jays during a 1–1 week, totaling 11 points on 11 goals. The freshman was perfect on free‑position opportunities, converting three goals on three attempts. She fired 19 total shots across the two‑game stretch, placing 18 on target for a 94.7% shot‑on‑goal percentage, while finishing with a 57.9% shooting percentage. The Newington native also contributed 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers on the week.
Krusewski opened the stretch with four goals, including a free‑position tally, and two ground balls in a 17–7 non‑conference road setback at intrastate foe Eastern Connecticut on Wednesday. She then erupted for a career‑high seven goals—including two free‑position goals, a player‑down goal, and a player‑up goal—to go along with a game‑high eight ground balls in a 13–11 road victory over Rivier in USJ's 2026 GNAC opener on Saturday.
Through five games this season, Krusewski currently leads the team and ranks tied for fourth in the GNAC in goals (20). She also ranks second on the team and tied for fifth in the conference in ground balls (16).
