Women's Lacrosse Earns First Win of Season with 14-11 Victory at FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the 2026 campaign on Wednesday afternoon, defeating FDU‑Florham, 14–11, in a non‑conference matchup at Robert T. Shield Field. The Blue Jays improve to 1–2, while the victory also marks the first career win for Head Coach Sam Herman. The Devils fall to 1–1 with the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

USJ was led offensively by freshman attack Kailey Krusewski (Newington, Conn.), who erupted for a game‑high five goals, including three straight in the first quarter to turn a 3–2 deficit into a 5–3 lead after one. She added tallies in both the second and fourth quarters to complete her standout performance.

Senior midfielder Alana Picard (Windsor Locks, Conn.) delivered one of her best all‑around games as a Blue Jay, totaling three goals and four assists while adding four draw controls. She factored into seven of USJ's 14 goals.

Junior attack Anna LeGault (Colchester, Conn.) scored twice—both in the third quarter—to help USJ maintain momentum. Additional goals came from sophomore midfielder Kaylynn Lapointe (Bristol, Conn.), freshman defender Halle Fontaine (Enfield, Conn.), junior midfielder Reagan Buscetto (Montville, Conn.), and senior attack Bella Gonzalez (West Hartford, Conn.). Gonzalez's score came via a free‑position shot late in the fourth.

After trailing 3–1 midway through the opening quarter, USJ surged with four straight goals—powered by Krusewski and Fontaine—to take a 5–3 advantage. The Blue Jays extended the lead with a four‑goal second quarter, highlighted by a free‑position finish from Picard and a strike from Lapointe, building a 9–5 lead at the half.

USJ continued to apply pressure in the third, with LeGault's pair of goals pushing the advantage to 11–6 entering the final period. Krusewski and Picard added goals early in the fourth, and Gonzalez converted a free‑position shot at the 3:07 mark to give the Blue Jays a 14–9 lead. FDU‑Florham scored twice late, but USJ held strong defensively to secure the road victory.

Senior goalkeeper Colleen Stringer (Point Lookout, N.Y.) came on in relief and was excellent, playing 52:32, making nine saves, and allowing just eight goals to earn the win. Freshman netminder Abigail Hubbard (Billings, Mont.) made the start and played the opening 7:28.
