Picard, LeGault Named to Women's Lacrosse All-GNAC Third Team
WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior midfielder Alana Picard and sophomore attack Anna LeGault of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team were named to the All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Third-Team, it was announced Tuesday by the league's front office. Sophomore attack Taylor Lambert (Richmond, R.I.) rounded out the honorees for USJ, receiving All-Sportsmanship Team accolades. Voting is conducted by the league's 16 head women's lacrosse coaches and did not take postseason play into account.
Picard enjoyed a breakout junior campaign, finishing the season with career-highs in total points (50), goals (32) and assists (18). The midfielder was stellar on the defensive side as well, causing 21 turnovers, while tallying 78 draw controls and 49 ground balls. Her draw control numbers saw her rank seventh in the conference, while she finished 11th in the GNAC in ground balls. The third-team nod is the first women's conference all-conference recognition in her career.
LeGault was an offensive machine during her sophomore season, leading the team with 67 points off a team-best 43 goals and a team-high 24 assists. Her scoring totals saw her finish 11th in the GNAC in total points, while she placed 17th in goals scored and eighth in the conference in total assists. The third-team nod is the second all-conference recognition she has received in her career, as she was named the GNAC Rookie of the Year and was tabbed to the All-GNAC Second Team a year ago.
