Women's Lacrosse Receives IWLCA Academic Recognition
NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team was recently recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for the team's strong performance in the classroom during the 2023-24 academic year. The Blue Jays were named an Academic Honor Squad, while recent graduates Ashley Rufo (Pittsfield, Mass.), Christine Vittner (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Makayla Bunker (Bristol, Conn.) and junior Karina Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) received Academic Honor Roll Distinction.

USJ were one of 325 schools across Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Academic Honor Squads for the 2023-24 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, teams must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Blue Jays were joined by Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) counterparts, Dean College, Emmanuel College, Regis College, and Simmons University on the list of Academic Honor Squads.
The Blue Jays quartet joined a group of 1,125 student-athletes from 201 different institutions on the 2024 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
