Stringer Repeats as GNAC Women's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – For the second consecutive week, sophomore goalkeeper Colleen Stringer (Point Lookout, N.Y.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office Monday afternoon in its fourth weekly report of the 2024 season. It marks the fourth GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week award for Stringer in her career and the third weekly conference honor for the Blue Jays this season.
Stringer, the reigning GNAC Women's Lacrosse Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Year, has been as advertised through the Blue Jays' first four games of the 2024 season. After registering 14 saves with a 53.8 save percentage over USJ's first two games and picking up GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors, the sophomore stopper was even more impressive between the posts over two games this past week en route to defending the weekly award. In a 1-1 week, the Point Lookout, N.Y. product played two full games in goal for USJ, making 27 saves on the 55 shots on goal that she faced for a 60.0 save percentage and allowed just 18 goals for a 9.00 goals-allowed average. Stringer opened the week saving 14 of the 23 shots on goal that she faced in a narrow 9-7 setback on the road to Wellesley College in non-conference action on Wednesday, before producing 13 saves on 22 shots on goal faced in an 11-9 GNAC victory on the road over Colby-Sawyer on Saturday.
Overall on the 2024 season, Stringer has made 41 total saves against 30 goals allowed for a 57.7 save percentage, which currently ranks third-best across the GNAC. In 229:22 of time logged between the posts, she sports a 7.85 goals-allowed average, which is currently fourth-best amongst her conference counterparts. The Blue Jays are off to a 3-1 start overall with a 2-0 mark in GNAC play as a team.

Stringer and the Blue Jays return to action on Tuesday, March 19 at home for a non-conference contest versus Salve Regina University. Opening draw between the Blue Jays and Seahawks is set for 4:00 p.m. at the USJ Lacrosse Field in West Hartford, Conn.
