Stringer Tabbed GNAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman goalkeeper Colleen Stringer (Point Lookout, N.Y.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team was tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference front office in its sixth weekly report of the 2023 season. It marks the second career GNAC Rookie of the Week honor and third overall weekly honor for Stringer this season after she was named the GNAC Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Week in the conference's first report of the season.

Stringer tallied 23 saves with a 57.5 save percentage and 8.44 goals against average in a 1-1 GNAC week for the Blue Jays. The freshman netminder opened the week by making seven saves in a heartbreaking 12-11 setback in overtime to Norwich at home on Wednesday. She followed that up by making an impressive 16 stops in a bounce-back 16-5 triumph at home over Rivier on Saturday. The victory over the Raiders improved USJ's record to 7-5 on the 2023 campaign, setting a new program record for wins in a single season.

UP NEXT

Stringer and the Blue Jays are back in action next on Wednesday, April 12 for a midweek matchup on the road against Great Northeast Athletic Conference foe Dean College. Opening draw between the Blue Jays and Bulldogs is set for 3:30 p.m. at Grant Field in Franklin, Mass.
