Stringer Named GNAC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman Colleen Stringer (Point Lookout, N.Y.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's lacrosse team was named both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference front office in its first weekly report of the 2023 season. It marks the first career GNAC weekly honors for Stringer and also the first for the Blue Jays this season.
Stringer was impressive in her collegiate debut between the pipes for the Blue Jays, making 10 saves against 18 shots on goal (55.6%), and earned the win in USJ's 2023 season opener as the Blue Jays defeated non-conference opponent Castleton University, 21-9, in their lone game of the week at home last Wednesday night. The rookie made three saves in the first quarter, three more in the second, two in the third, and two more in the fourth over 53 minutes of action in goal.

Stringer and the Blue Jays are back in action next on Wednesday, March 8 for a midweek matinee on the road against intrastate non-conference foe Mitchell College. Opening draw between the Blue Jays and Mariners is set for 12:00 p.m. in New London, Conn.
