STANDISH, Maine – University of Saint Joseph senior Devon Diliberto (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 15 points and sophomore Stephanie DeJesus (Meriden, Conn.) scored a season-high 11, but the Blue Jays lost to St. Joseph's College, of Maine, 65-51 Saturday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game.
The Monks of Saint Joseph's improved to 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the GNAC; The Blue Jays are 7-8 and 0-2.
Shauna Sullivan (Rocky Hill, Conn.) had eight rebounds for the Blue Jays, which gave her 502 for her career as she became only the seventh player in school history to get at least 500 career rebounds. Lindsey Dionne (Portland, Conn.) scored eight points for USJ and Heather Framski (Prospect, Conn.) had seven points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
USJ was held to 31.8 percent shooting (14-for-44) for the game and 21.7 percent (5-for-23) in the first half as the Monks never trailed and led 24-16 at halftime. USJs biggest deficit was 15 points at 34-19 with 15:08 to play and the Blue Jays would only come as close as nine points the rest of the way.
St. Joseph hosts Suffolk Mon. January 20 at 1 p.m. in a GNAC game.
