Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Cardinal Invitational
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Junior Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) paced the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's cross country team with an eighth-place finish, to lead the Blue Jays to a fourth-place team finish at the Cardinal Invitational at the Wes Fuhrman '05 Trails Cross Country Course in Middletown, Conn., Saturday morning. The men's team had a fantastic day, finishing ahead of intrastate foe Western Connecticut, and fellow Nutmeg State school and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Mitchell College.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Laframboise had another fantastic showing, finishing in eighth place after crossing the line with a 6K time of 19:51.1, a minute faster than last year's Cardinal Invitational.
- Junior Patrick O'Connor (Cheshire, Conn.) was the next Blue Jay to cross the line, finishing in 41st after posting a time of 24:35.6.
- Senior Alfred Valero (Thomaston, Conn.) was the third USJ finisher, recording a time of 27:11.5 to finish in 47th.
- Freshman Jonathan Casillas (Holyoke, Mass) followed closely behind, placing 51st after posting a time of 28:14.8.
- Senior Luke Alvarez (West Hartford, Conn.) rounded out the point finishers for the Blue Jays, crossing the line with a time of 29:59.7 to finish in 54th overall.
- Wesleyan took home the team title, tallying 17 points.
UP NEXT
The men's cross country team returns to action next on Saturday, September 16 for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth. Taking place at the Robert Dowd Cross Country Course in Dartmouth, Mass., the men's 8K is set to begin at 11:15 a.m.
