Men's Tennis Takes Down Yeshiva on the Road Tuesday Night, 6-1

FLUSHING, N.Y – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday night, rolling past Yeshiva University, 6-1, in a non-conference match at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. With the result, the Blue Jays improved to 1-0, while the Maccabees dropped to 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Blue Jays started strong in doubles, winning on all three courts to grab early momentum and a 1-0 lead in the match.
  • Senior Karol Romer (Warsaw, Poland) and sophomore Manuel Hernandez-Plaza (Dorado, Puerto Rico) opened the match in style at No. 1 doubles, dominating the team of Matan Kamhi and Ethan Rolnick, 6-1.
  • Sophomore Adam Jara (Wethersfield, Conn.) and freshman Nick Prosterman (Windsor, Conn.) clinched the doubles point for the Blue Jays in the team's No. 3 doubles slot, cruising past Israel Bussu and Josh Zahavi, 6-1.
  • Senior Ryan Boucher (Bedford, N.H.) and sophomore Rylee Childress (Medway, Mass.) followed up with a tight 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Yeshiva's tandem of Jacob Feit and Elan Goldstein.
  • Romer stayed red-hot, overpowering Kamhi 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to double USJ's lead, 2-0.
  • Prosterman picked up a decisive 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jeremiah Schwartz at No. 6 singles to extend the Blue Jays' advantage to 3-0.
  • Hernandez-Plaza clinched the match victory for USJ, defeating Feit in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles position.
  • Childress bounced back after dropping the second set to outlast Rolnick in a thriller at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-4) to push USJ's lead out to 5-0.
  • Jara pulled off another clutch win in another third-set tiebreak, edging Goldstein in the No. 5 singles slot, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) to build a 6-0 advantage.
  • Boucher fought hard in two close sets, but ultimately fell to Bussu at No. 3 singles 7-6, 6-2 to put Yeshiva on the board and account for the 6-1 final score. 

UP NEXT

Tuesday's match concluded the fall portion of the men's tennis 2025–26 schedule. The Blue Jays will now set their sights on the 2026 spring slate, which is set to begin with a Conference of New England road match at Gordon College on Saturday, March 14.
