Romer Earns CNE Men's Tennis Player of the Week Honors
BEVERLY, Mass. - Junior Karol Romer (Warsaw, Poland) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's tennis team was named the Conference of New England (CNE) Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office Monday afternoon in its second weekly report of the 2025 season. It marked the first career weekly conference honor for Romer with the Blue Jays since transferring to USJ from Cameron University this fall, and the first-ever CNE weekly award for men's tennis in program history, as USJ just joined the conference as an associate member this year.
Romer went 4-1 at the No. 1 singles position for the USJ men's tennis team this past week as the Blue Jays played five matches during spring break in the Orlando, Florida area. Romer opened his strong week with a 6-3, 7-5 straight-set victory over Otterbein's Max Fickas on Monday night (3/10). He followed that up by battling and defeating Bethel's Carter Sheard via a third-set tiebreaker 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (1-7), 1-0 (10-1) on Tuesday morning. Romer then rounded out the week with straight-set wins over Loras' Diego Mejías 6-2, 6-0 on Thursday (10/13) and Connecticut College's Jules Taylor-Kerman 6-4, 6-4 on Friday (10/14).
