Rivera, Huot, Hussey From Men's Tennis Named ITA Scholar-Athletes
TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's tennis team had three student-athletes recognized by the International Tennis Association (ITA), and the trio was named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2022-23 academic year, it was announced by the organization on Wednesday, July 12. Junior Tyler Hussey (Rocky Hill, Conn.), sophomore Jonathan Huot (South Windsor, Conn.), and freshman Noah Rivera (Armonk, N.Y.) earned the designation for the Blue Jays, who competed in their inaugural season this past academic year.
In order to be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, Hussey, Huot and Rivera had to meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
Overall, 1,012 Division III men's tennis student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete from across the nation. The Blue Jays, who concluded their inaugural 2022-23 season with an overall record of 9-9, represented three of the four ITA Scholar-Athletes on the list from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Colby-Sawyer College's Cohl Schusler was the only other delegate from within the conference.
