Rivera Earns First-Ever Men's Tennis Weekly Awards, Named GNAC Player and Rookie of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman Noah Rivera (Armonk, N.Y.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's tennis team was named both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player and Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference front office in its second weekly report of the 2023 season. It marks the first GNAC weekly honors in men's tennis program history as the Blue Jays are in the midst of their inaugural varsity season in 2022-23.
In USJ's lone match of the week, Rivera helped power the Blue Jays to a 9-0 victory over Norwich University on the road this past Saturday as USJ played in its first-ever GNAC match in program history. The freshman from Armonk, N.Y. claimed victories in the No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles position for the Blue Jays against the Cadets. He started the match with an 8-4 doubles victory alongside classmate Ryan Boucher (Bedford, N.H.), before turning in a 6-1, 6-2 straight-set triumph over the Cadets' No. 1 player Dimitry Mucha (Harwinton, Conn.) to contribute two points to the GNAC-opening sweep.

Rivera and the Blue Jays return back to the courts on Wednesday, March 15 for a midweek match on the road against non-conference opponent University of Southern Maine. First serve between the Blue Jays and Huskies is set for 3:00 p.m. in Gorham, Maine.
