Men's Swimming & Diving Sits Second After Opening Day of GNAC Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team began the 2026 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Friday, tallying 65 points to sit in second place after the first day of action inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass.


TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay - The team of sophomores Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.), Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.), Viktor Orzolek (Newington, Conn.), and freshman Josh Desyr (Stamford, Conn.) finished in second, combining for a time of 1:47.81. 
  • 200 Yard Freestyle - Capen topped the timing sheet for USJ, finishing in third with a time of 1:52.19.
  • 50 Yard Butterfly - Freshman Kyle Januszewski (North Haven, Conn.) recorded a second place finish with a time of 25.57 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke - Sophomore Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.) finished in second place after posting a time of 59.26 seconds. 
  • 200 Yard Backstroke - Capen paced the Blue Jays in the event, finishing in second place after touching the wall in 2:06.07.
  • 1,000 Yard Freestyle - Orzolek finished in seventh after recording a time of 12:04.29.
  • 400 Yard Freestyle Relay - The team of Brasky, Capen, Januszewski, and Hebb finished in second, combining for a time of 3:24.42.

UP NEXT 

The Blue Jays continue the GNAC Championships tomorrow, Saturday, February 7. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the WPI Sports & Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass., with finals beginning at roughly 6:00 p.m.
