Pennell Breaks 1-Meter Diving Program Record, Blue Jays Fall to ECSU on Saturday
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Freshman Henry Pennell (Bellows Falls, Vt.) continued his impressive rookie campaign, setting a new program record in the 1-Meter Diving (Six Dives) event as the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team fell to visiting intrastate foe Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU), 165-94, Saturday afternoon inside the Bruyette Natatorium in West Hartford, Conn.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- 200 Yard Medley Relay - The team of sophomores Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.), Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.), Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.), and freshman Kyle Januszewski (North Haven, Conn.) came in third place, combining for a time of 2:12.08.
- 1,000 Yard Freestyle - Sophomore Viktor Orzolek (Newington, Conn.) won the event for USJ, finishing with a time of 12:02.97.
- 200 Yard Freestyle - Capen paced the Blue Jays, finishing in third after tallying a time of 1:59.18.
- 100 Yard Backstroke - Januszewski came in second place, finishing with a time of 1:00.72.
- 100 Yard Breaststroke - Hebb continued his strong sophomore campaign, winning the event for the Blue Jays after posting a time of 1:02.29.
- 50 Yard Freestyle - Freshman Josh Desyr (Stamford, Conn.) came in third place, touching the wall in 26.64 seconds.
- 1 Mtr Diving - Pennell continued his strong performance on the board, collecting a total score of 137.25 in his first round of dives. In his second round, he would break the school diving record, finishing with a total score of 190.30.
- 100 Yard Freestyle - Brasky came in third, finishing with a time of 55.56 seconds.
- 200 Yard Backstroke - Capen won the event for the Blue Jays after recording an impressive time of 2:10.99.
- 200 Yard Breaststroke - Hebb won his second individual event of the day, tallying a first place time of 2:16.27.
- 500 Yard Freestyle - Orzolek came in second place, finishing with a time of 5:51.24.
- 100 Yard Butterfly - Januszewski continued his strong performance, finishing in second place with a time of 57.81 seconds.
- 100 Yard IM - Hebb captured his third individual win of the day after recording a time of 56.71 seconds.
- 200 Yard Freestyle Relay - The team of Orzolek, Desyr, Brasky, and Capen finished in third, combining for a time of 1:43.36.
UP NEXT
The Blue Jays round out the 2025-26 regular season on the road at Gordon College on Saturday, January 24. The dual meet against the Fighting Scots inside the Bennett Center Natatorium in Wenham, Mass., is set for 1:00 p.m.
