Men's Swimming & Diving Sits Fifth After Opening Night of Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team rounded out the opening day of the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships, hosted by Wesleyan University, Friday night inside the Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn. USJ tallied a score of 99 on the night to sit in fifth place after the first day of competition.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Free Relay – The team of sophomore Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.), freshman Joe Andino (Wethersfield, Conn.), sophomore Nate Brasky (Madison, Conn.), and freshman Kyle Januszewski (North Haven, Conn.) finished in 13th place, combining for a time of 1:34.25.
  • 500 Yard Free – Hebb paced the Blue Jays, finishing in 11th place after posting a time of 5:01.55.
  • 200 Yard IM – Sophomore Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished in 21st after posting a time of 2:11.93.
  • 50 Yard Free – Brasky topped the timing sheet for USJ, posting a time of 23.82 seconds to finish in 22nd.
  • 400 Yard Medley Relay – The team of Capen, Hebb, Brasky, and Januszewski finished in 13th, combining for a time of 3:49.72.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays round out the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships on Saturday, December 6. The action inside the Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn. is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
