Men's Swimming & Diving Competes at Friday Night Sprints

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team continued the 2025-26 campaign Friday night, taking part in the Friday Night Sprints, hosted by Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) at the Jack Suydam Natatorium in New Britain, Conn. The Blue Jays competed against the Division I Blue Devils as well as the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College.

TOP PERFORMANCES 

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of sophomore Chris Capen (Wilbraham, Mass.), freshman Kyle Januszewski (North Haven, Conn.), sophomore Aiden Hebb (Waterbury, Conn.), and freshman Chris Morris (Weatogue, Conn.) were the lone team to compete in the event, combining for a time of 1:47.03.
  • 200 Yard Free – Hebb won the event for USJ, finishing with a first place time of 1:51.77.
  • 50 Yard Free – Freshman Joe Andino (Wethersfield, Conn.) won the event for the Blue Jays, touching the wall in 25.11 seconds.
  • 50 Yard Fly - Januszewski won the event, finishing with a time of 26.00 seconds.
  • 100 Yard Breast - Hebb won the event after recording a time of 1:02.52.
  • 100 Yard Back - Capen was the lone swimmer in the event, posting a time of 1:00.41.
  • 100 Yard Free -  Morris won the event, finishing with a time of 56.08 seconds.
  • 100 Yard IM – Capen would finish in first while freshman Josh Desyr (Stamford, Conn.) finished close behind in second. Capen recorded a time of 1:02.89 and Desyr recorded a 1:15.06.
  • 200 Yard Free Relay - The team of Capen, Hebb, Januszewski, and Morris were the only team to compete and combined for a time of 1:39.39.
  • 1 M Diving - Freshman Henry Pennell (Bellows Falls, Vt.), the lone diver of the event, finished with a total score of 147.6.

UP NEXT 

The Blue Jays return to the pool next on Friday, December 5, when they travel to Webster Family Natatorium in Middletown, Conn. for the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships. The start time of the event is TBA.
