Kavanaugh Claims NEISDA Diver Of The Week

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior diver David Kavanaugh (West Hartford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team was selected as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Men's Diver of the Week for week five of the 2021-2022 season, announced Wednesday by the association.

OFFICIAL NEISDA RELEASE

Kavanaugh made key contributions in a double-dual meet sweep Saturday over Great Northeast Athletic Conference rivals Elms College and Saint Joseph's College of Maine (SJC), part of the first-ever Falcon invitational, held at Albertus Magnus College on November 6. Kavanaugh put up an 11 dive list without any practice in his first time on the board this season, after recently wrapping up the cross country campaign, where he was team captain. The junior from We-Ha placed first in both 1-Meter Diving events. He also finished second in the 50 yard Breaststroke, contributing a healthy amount of points as the Blue Jays claimed convincing victories in the overall standings (USJ 195, Elms 11 | USJ 183, SJC 60). It's the first-career NEISDA nod for Kavanaugh, who is an education major from West Hartford.

Founded in 1920, the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association is a coach-run association made up of member institutions in New England. NEISDA annually sponsors and administers a championship for those qualifying swimmers and divers in February.
