Ofori Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore forward Emmanuel Ofori (East Hartford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon in its fifth weekly report of the 2023 season. It marks the second GNAC weekly honor for Ofori this year and the fourth weekly accolade for the Blue Jays this season. 

OFFICIAL GNAC RELEASE 

Ofori was a force up top for the Blue Jays during a perfect 2-0-0 week, scoring three goals for USJ. The sophomore started the week with a goal during the 4-1 victory at Lasell last Wednesday. Ofori rounded out his impressive week by scoring two goals, including the game winner, during the 5-2 victory against Emmanuel on Saturday. The sophomore has been on fire for the Blue Jays in his debut campaign, leading the team with seven goals, while dishing out one assist. His seven goals leads the GNAC circuit, while his 15 points is second to only fellow teammate, graduate student Michael Torres (Hartford, Conn.), who has a GNAC-best 19 points.

UP NEXT 
Ofori and the Blue Jays continue a four-game homestand with a 2022 GNAC title game rematch against Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday, October 3. Kickoff against the Wildcats on the USJ Soccer Field is set for 4:00 p.m.
