Torres Named GNAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Graduate student midfielder Michael Torres (Hartford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon in its third weekly report of the 2023 season. It marks the second career GNAC weekly honor for Torres and the second weekly accolade for the Blue Jays this season.
Torres had a stellar week for the Blue Jays, guiding the team to a perfect 2-0-0 record in their first two home games of the 2023 season. The midfielder started the week by scoring two goals and dishing out an assist during a 4-0 victory over Dean on Wednesday. Torres rounded out his stellar week with another multi-point game, scoring a goal and notching an assist in a 5-0 win over Rivier on Saturday. The graduate student has been on fire to begin the 2023 campaign, as he currently leads the team in scoring with 12 points off four goals and four assists to guide the Blue Jays to an unbeaten 4-0-1 start to the year.

Torres and the Blue Jays head back on the road, making the trip east to intrastate foes and conference newcomers Mitchell College tomorrow, Tuesday, September 19. Kickoff against the Mariners is set for 4:00 p.m. on Alumni Field in New London, Conn.
