Anderson Named GNAC Men's Soccer Player Of The Week
WINTHROP, Mass. - Senior forward DeAnte Anderson (Bloomfield, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's soccer team continued his scorching-hot start to the 2021 season and was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon by the conference in its third weekly report of the 2021 season. It marks the fifth career GNAC weekly accolade for Anderson who currently leads all of NCAA Division III with 11 goals and 22 points on the year.
Anderson stayed red-hot this past week, scoring all four goals for the Blue Jays in a 1-0-1 week. After USJ played to a 0-0 double-overtime draw on Wednesday in non-conference action at UMass Dartmouth, the 6-1 striker out of Bloomfield exploded for a four-goal, eight-point game on Saturday at home to single handily defeat Dean College, 4-1, in GNAC action. Anderson has now scored the last nine goals for the Blue Jays dating back to September 7 after he netted five against cross-town rival Trinity College. He leads the GNAC and the nation in goals scored with 11 and points with 22 following his four-goal outburst versus the Bulldogs. Anderson has 11 of the 15 goals this season for USJ. No other player in the GNAC has even half as many.
