USJ seized control from the opening whistle and never looked back, striking first at the 11:03 mark when freshman midfielder AJ Valone (Sayville, N.Y.) finished a feed from senior defenseman Nick Wesley (Wakefield, Mass.).
-
Junior attack Adam Pelletier (North Kingstown, R.I.), senior attack Freeman Johnson (Swanzey, N.H.), and sophomore midfielder Chris Clancy (Glastonbury, Conn.) added goals during the early stretch as the Blue Jays built a 4–0 advantage.
-
Mitchell got on the board midway through the opening quarter, but USJ responded with an eight-goal run to close the period. Johnson, junior midfielder JD DeNicola-Rakvin (Staten Island, N.Y.), freshman midfielder Brady Stevens (Laconia, N.H.), and senior attack Quinn Perkins (Norwich, Conn.) all contributed during the surge, sending the Blue Jays into the second quarter with a commanding 12–1 lead.

The Blue Jays continued to pull away in the second quarter, adding seven more goals to carry a 19–1 advantage into halftime. Sophomore attack Dominic Oakes (Southington, Conn.), Pelletier, Perkins, senior attack Nick Pestrichello (Newington, Conn.), and Stevens each found the back of the net in the frame.

USJ added five more scores in the third quarter, with junior attack Alexander Milne (Branford, Conn.), Valone, freshman midfielder Henry Pennell (Bellows Falls, Vt.), and junior faceoff specialist Ethan Menard (West Springfield, Mass.) accounting for the offense. Mitchell was held scoreless in the period as the Blue Jays extended the lead to 24–1 entering the fourth.
