McCann Named GNAC Men's Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. - Graduate student netminder Trey McCann (Simsbury, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's lacrosse team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office Monday afternoon in its seventh weekly report of the 2025 season. It marks the fifth career weekly conference honor for McCann, and the first weekly award for the Blue Jays this season.

McCann was stellar in the cage for USJ, recording a 6.65 goals-against average (GAA), 28 total saves and a 68.3 save percentage to help lead the Blue Jays to a perfect 2-0 week in GNAC play. The graduate student began the week with an eight-save outing during a 13-4 home win against Johnson & Wales, before concluding his stellar week by notching a season-high 20 saves, as USJ defeated Saint Joseph's College of Maine on the road this past Saturday. This season, McCann ranks second in the GNAC with 128 total saves, while sitting fourth in both goals-against average (10.63) and save percentage (54.7%).

UP NEXT

McCann and the Blue Jays round out a quick two-game road swing with a visit to Newton, Mass. on Wednesday, April 9 for a GNAC South Division matchup against Lasell University. Opening faceoff between the Blue Jays and Lasers at Grellier Field is slated for 6:00 p.m.
