Matt Guerin Named To NEILA All-Academic Team
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Matt Guerin (East Longmeadow, Mass.), a recent University of Saint Joseph (USJ) graduate and member of the men's lacrosse program, has been selected to the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III All-Academic Team, announced by the organization on Tuesday, June 21.
Members of the NEILA All-Academic Teams are nominated by head coaches in Divisions I, II and III, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career. Nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be an impact player for their team.
In total across all divisions, a record 223 student-athletes from 55 different colleges and universities were selected to this year's NEILA All-Academic Team, a slim increase of two student-athletes from last year's record-setting selections. Guerin was one of 129 Division III players representing 37 different institutions to receive NEILA All-Academic honors and one of 11 student-athletes from teams within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Brown University and Endicott College led all institutions with 13 candidates apiece. The University of Massachusetts had 11 student-athletes honored, while Bates College was also in double-digits with 10 selections.
