Cisse Named GNAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman forward Adelphe Cisse (Pointe-Noire Congo) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team was tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office Monday afternoon in its seventh weekly report of the 2024-25 season. The seventh weekly conference awards factored in contests starting on December 18 through January 5. It marked the first career weekly conference honor for Cisse and the third for the Blue Jays this season.
The freshman had an impressive four-game holiday slate, averaging 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest, notching double-doubles in three games. He started the holiday season by notching his first career double-double, posting 12 points and 11 rebounds during a road victory at Yeshiva (12/18). Cisse then made it back-to-back double-doubles, posting an identical stat line at home against Farmingdale State (12/29). The Pointe-Noire, Congo, native then dropped seven points and six rebounds in a victory at home against Western Connecticut (12/30), before posting a double-double after dropping a career-best 19 points and grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds, while adding a career-best five assists on the road at Nazareth (1/4) to conclude the holiday stretch of games.

The Blue Jays return to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Tuesday, January 7 against New England College. Tipoff against the Pilgrims inside Bridges Gym in Henniker, N.H., is set for 7:00 p.m.
